Caroline Yanish Aune, 85

Caroline Yanish Aune, 85, passed away on Tuesday, March 31st, 2026 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

Caroline was born May 5th, 1940 to Edward and Marjorie (Ruby) Yanish in Bagley, Minnesota. She attended schools in Bagley, MN and Fisher, MN, graduating from Fisher in 1958. Caroline’s first marriage gave her two daughters. Caroline married Arley W. Aune on September 3rd, 1977. They made their home in Fisher where Caroline worked at the small cafe and later as the accountant for the Farmers Co-Op Elevator and Fuel & Hardware before moving over to the Cenex Store office where she did all the bookkeeping for the Fuel Oil and store.

Carol and Arley moved to East Grand Forks after her mother passed to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren. Carol moved to Sunshine Terrace after her husband of 40 years, Arley, passed. There she met many friends and enjoyed coffee time with her neighbors and bingo. She loved the kidnapping days with her sister, Donna.

Caroline is survived by her girls: Elizabeth (Jeff) Borgen and their children, Christopher (Emily) Borgen (and their children, Beckett, Chandler, and Ellington), Cody Borgen, and Caitlyn Borgen; Victoria (Dan) Johnson their children, Brandon (Taylor) Johnson (and their daughter, Violet), and Abby (Matthew) Dubbels (and their son, Griffin); sisters, Joyce (Richard) Morgan, and Donna Mosher; sister-in-law, Ilene Yanish; and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arley; infant sister, Alice; brother, Ed Jr.; sister, Pat (Gordon) Vind; nephew, Tim Vind; brother-in-law, Gary Mosher; granddaughter, Shelby Johnson; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

We would like to thank the Altru Staff, Valley Transition Care, and HIA Hospice for your care, strength, and support. Also Auntie Donna for your countless hours spent with her and us in the most difficult time.

VISITATION is from 4:00PM – 6:00PM, with a MEMORIAL SERVICE at 6:00PM, on Friday, April 10, 2026 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Avenue NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Service will be live-streamed on Carol’s Obituary page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery in Fisher, MN at a later date.
