Mark Ernest Misialek, 73

December 19, 2025

Mark Ernest Misialek (73) of East Grand Forks, MN, passed away surrounded by family on December 13, 2025.

Mark was born on April 25, 1952, at St. Michael’s Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, the son of Ernie and Rose (Lizakowski) Misialek. He graduated from Minto High School in 1970 and from the University of North Dakota in December 1975. Mark married Debbie Kozel on October 18, 1975 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor, MN. Mark and Debbie just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year at the UND hockey game against the Gophers.
Mark started his career as a dispatcher at Dan Dugan in Grand Forks. He and his family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where he worked at Farmland Industries, Midwest Coast, and C.H. Robinson. In 1997, Mark and his family moved back to Grand Forks where he worked at Cenex as a driver and dispatcher until 2011. He continued to work as a farmer with his brother-in-law, Dan Driscoll, and then as a delivery driver for O'Reilly Auto Parts until his retirement in October 2025.
Mark enjoyed listening to rock and blues music on his very awesome stereo, visiting casinos, and taking his chance on scratch-off lottery tickets. He loved his brandy, Jim Beam, and Fireball. He attended many concerts with his sons and brothers. His favorite was Pearl Jam in Fargo in 2003. Mark and his son, Jared, loved to golf around the various courses in the area, and he loved all Minnesota sports teams—except the Gophers. His favorite sports moment was when the Minnesota Twins won the 1991 World Series, and he jumped out of his chair with excitement. He loved UND hockey and enjoyed his season tickets and traveling to support the team. He always wished to see the Minnesota Vikings finally win a Super Bowl and be there to welcome the aliens when they arrive.
Mark is survived by his wife, Debbie, and four children: Jason of Louisville, KY; Shauna (Brian) Guilliatt of Westland, MI; Jeffrey of Eagan, MN; and Jared of Grand Forks. His daughter blessed him with three grandchildren (Damian, Dylan, Alexis) and one great-granddaughter (Heaven). Mark is survived by his mother, Rose of Grand Forks;
seven siblings: Marla (Steve) Deerly of Poulsbo, WA; Mitch (Patrice Koble) of Minto; Melaine (Paul) Shephard of Boise, ID; Matt (Vickie) of Grand Forks; Miles of Minto; Merlin (Kristen) of Vadnais Heights, MN; and Mike of Glyndon, MN. Mark’s siblings blessed him with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
At the Pearly Gates he had many waiting for him including his father, Ernie; brother-in-law, Mike Vigen; and mother- and father-in-law, Marie and Marvin Kozel. He joins the most epic rock ‘n’ roll party consisting of Keith Moon, John Entwistle, Bon Scott, Chris Cornell, and Layne Staley.
