Jack Walter Schroeder, 95

December 01, 2025

Jack Walter Schroeder, 95 of East Grand Forks, Minnesota died Friday, November 28, 2025, at his home.

Jack was born the son of John and Katherine (Schmidt) Schroeder on June 11, 1930, in Larimore, North Dakota. He spent most of his life growing up East Grand Forks before enlisting in the United States Air Force and proudly serving during the Korean war.

During this time, G.I. Jack met the love of his life, Sylvia Dodsworth in London and wouldn’t let her cross Kingston bridge without a kiss. This began their 66-year love story. They were married on October 11, 1952.

The couple made their forever home in East Grand Forks, where they built a house together and raised four children. Jack lived in this home for the rest of his life. He and Sylvia were long-time, devoted members of First Lutheran Church.

Jack worked as a carpet layer and woodworker for Rudh Brothers in East Grand Forks, until his retirement. A man of many talents and passions, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and practicing taxidermy. Woodworking became a special hobby for him, especially crafting trees. He also loved gardening.

Many cherished memories were made at the family’s lake cabin, where Jack delighted in hosting family and friends for saunas, campfires, and good conversation.

He had a deep love for music and dancing—there was always music playing when you walked into Jack’s home.

Jack treasured time with his children and grandchildren and maintained close loving relationships with them.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sylvia (2018), brothers, Mark and James Schroeder and sisters, Lorraine Bush, and Elsie Ann Thomas.

Jack is survived by his daughter, Linda (Louie) Forseide; son, Tim Schroeder; Jackie (Mike) Rasch; daughter, Cindy (Daryl) Evavold; seven grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

We Love You To The Moon!
