Donna Mae Martinson, age 94, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025 at Valley Senior Living surrounded by family.
Donna was born May 1, 1931 in Wellsberg, ND to Edwin and Harriet (Reller) Christensen. She was raised in Thief River Falls, MN, confirmed at Evangelical Free Church, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949.
In 1950, Donna married Elmer Christianson. The couple lived and farmed at Badger, MN. In 1957 they began farming in Fisher, MN where they raised their seven children.
In 1980 Donna married Lysle Martinson. They wintered in Weslaco Texas where they became “Grandpa and Grandma” to the Nunez children; Josie, Mari and Nathan.
Donna’s faith in the Lord sustained her through her days. She lived a life of service, endlessly giving of her time and heart. Donna found joy in gardening, sewing, crocheting, and fishing but her greatest joy was helping others. In her later years, Donna enjoyed reading, puzzling, watching the MinnesotaTwins, Timberwolves and UND Women’s Basketball, and playing Rummikub.
Most recently, Donna resided at Good Samaritan Heritage Grove in East Grand Forks where she developed many friendships.
Donna (known to many as “Granny”) is survived by her children Karen (Dick) Melquist, Sheryl (Reed) Tinkham, Tom Christianson, Kathy Christianson, Kevin (Kim) Christianson, Linda (Will) Sutton, Lisa (Rich) Buth; stepchildren Rick (Rhonda) Hogan and JoLynn (Bill) Dixon; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers Bob (Joyce), Dean (Joan), and Jerry Christensen. She was preceded in death by her husband Lysle Martinson, sister Betty Jorde, brother Dale Christensen, 2 stillborn sons, step-son Jerry Hogan, brother-in-law Chester Jorde, and sisters-in-law Betty, Marilyn, and Anne.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna’s memory to a cause close to your heart.

FUNERAL: 11:00 AM, Friday, October 3, 2025 at Fisher Lutheran Church, 205 2nd St. S., Fisher, MN 56723. Funeral will be live-streamed on Granny’s page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com.
VISITATION: 9:30 AM-until the time of the funeral at 11:00 AM on Friday also at the Church.
INTERMENT: Fisher Lutheran Church Cemetery immediately following the funeral.
