Irene D. Rolczynski, 91

Irene D. Rolczynski, formerly of East Grand Forks for 59 years, passed away on May 16, 2025 at her home at the Commons on Marice, 1380 Marice Dr., Eagan, MN surrounded by her family. 

Irene Novak born Dec. 5, 1933 to parents of Thomas and Bessie Novak rural Veselyville, N. Dak. growing up on a farm, going to a rural school and graduating from Minto High School. 

After graduation Irene was employed in retail in Grafton and Grand Forks for J.C. Penney Co. 

Irene was married to husband Dan on Oct. 18, 1955 at St. John’s Catholic Church after which it took them to Grand Forks where she was employed as a waitress at the VFW, Grand Forks, then moving to East Grand Forks where she was a stay at home mom. Irene was a very good cook, like her mother Bessie, she loved to bake and did a lot of it until her last moments of life. 

Irene and Dan were big fans of the Mn. Twins, local Sacred Heart High school sports and an active member of the Sacred Heart guild for many years, plus being a distributor at the church. After Dan retired in 1995 they traveled the southwest for 12 years spending the winter months in the desert of California.

Cherished family members who survive Irene, include her husband Dan of over 69 years; sons Dan W (Mary Jo) Richfield, MN, Ron (Roxanne) Lakeville, MN; daughters Susie (Steve) Wichterman, Sandra (James) Mozey Marcel, MN and Nancy (Jim) Piga Mendota Heights, MN. Nine Grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, Sister-in-laws, Audrey Rogalla, Goodridge, MN, Rita Nelson Eden Prairie, MN., Annette (Ron) Ebbighausen, Harlingen, TX and Bernadette Borowicz, Argyle, MN. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Bessie Novak, siblings Charlie, Stanley and sisters Agnes (Frank) Souter and Mayme (John) Burianek... Irene was loving wife, Grandma and Great-grandma who will be deeply missed, her love for family members was her concern, and she loved crafting...

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Development Fund or Sacred Heart Athletic Club...

Private funeral arrangements will be for immediate family members.
