Julie Pederson, 49
Julie Pederson, 49, of East Grand Forks, MN died Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Julie Ann Osowski was born September 6, 1974 in Warren, MN the daughter of Dean and Gail (Ellingson) Osowski. She grew up in Drayton, ND and graduated from High School there in 1993. She then went on and attended UND and Northland Technical College. On December 30, 2000 Julie married Joey Pederson in Grand Forks. They made their home in East Grand Forks and were blessed with two children. While spending time with family and being a wonderful mother to Kelsi & Tucker was most important to Julie, she also worked to help support her family. Over the years Julie worked for various employers including Home of Economy – retail, Bremer Bank – teller, Ecolab, Crysler Center – office assistant, Potato Growers Association – office assistant, and Amundson Trucking – office assistant. For the last 13 years Julie was a beloved employee of the ND Eye Clinic where she worked in many different roles, most recently a billing specialist. Julie was best known at the Clinic for her chocolate chip cookies! Julie enjoyed baking and was very talented in the kitchen. She enjoyed hosting get-togethers for family and friends, especially around the holidays. The Pedersons are an avid race family and Julie was the most enthusiastic crew chief. Nothing gave her more pride and joy than watching her children race, have fun and succeed. Julie was not always the crew chief though. Through much of the 1990’s Julie was a racer herself, and no question a “trail blazer” for women daring to enter the male dominated sport of auto racing at the time. In her auto racing career Julie racked up many podium-finishes and won a few feature events. Julie’s last car race was in Hallock, MN in the summer of 2001, which she won that event in the Super Stock division.
She is survived by her husband Joey of East Grand Forks; children Kelsi Pederson of Fargo, ND and Tucker Pederson of East Grand Forks; mother Gail Osowski of East Grand Forks; sisters, Cheryl Osowski and Katie (Phil) Donoho, both of East Grand Forks; nieces and nephews Collin and Elizabeth Donoho, Christian Middleton, Aiden and Elliott Guerrero; parents-in-law Mark (Elaine) Pederson of Warren, MN; and sisters-in-law Jennifer Pederson of Warren and Cassie Guerrero of Thief River Falls. She was preceded in death by her father Dean Osowski, mother-in-law Mary Pederson, and grandparents, Jim (Ann) Ellingson and Henry (Agnes) Osowski.
