January 15, 2024

Henrietta Myszkowski, 92, of Warren, MN, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, in North Star Manor Nursing Home.

Henrietta Marie Vasek was born on December 19, 1931, in rural Tabor, MN, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Gust) Vasek. She attended a rural school near Tabor until 8th grade. Henrietta attended the Hospital Sisters of Saint Frances in Springfield, Illinois from 1950-1953. She worked at the State Bank of Warren from 1954-1956. There she met Daniel “Danny” Myszkowski who was employed by Boardson’s Fairway in Warren. Danny helped to carry her groceries and the two eventually started dating. After two years together, Danny and Henrietta were married on November 12, 1956, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Tabor. From this union was born Karen, Gregory, John, Joseph, Renae, and Peter.

On August 1, 1972, Danny and Henrietta purchased the Elm Crest Motel in Warren. Together they ran the day-to-day motel operations by taking reservations, supervising the cleaning staff, and managing the bookkeeping. When Danny purchased Danny’s Tavern in 1979, Henrietta took over the full-time motel operations until he sold the tavern in 1989. Henrietta finished her GED in 1982 by taking classes remotely from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. Beyond being an outstanding mother of six children, it was one of her grandest and most dedicated accomplishments.

She was a faithful member of and very involved with Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she and Danny taught Confirmation classes for many years in the 1970s and 1980s. She served as secretary for the Ladies Aide group and also recited the Rosary before Mass for many years. She worked for the Warren Volunteer Fire Department Fireman’s Ball for over 30 years. In addition, Henrietta thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Tuesday women’s coffee bowling league at Cactus Lanes in Warren for three decades where her teammates and opponents affectionately called her “Hank.” She won numerous awards for her bowling achievements and bowled a high score of 272 before retiring from the sport.

Henrietta was a devoted Mother and Grandmother, and she was equally devoted to Holy Mary through reciting the Rosary each day. She was also grateful to receive the Bishop’s Medal from the Diocese of Crookston in 2018.

She is survived by daughters, Karen and Renae of Warren, MN; sons, Greg of Warren, MN, John (Lin Krippner) of Brooklyn Center, MN, and their children, Olivia, Sophia and Samuel, Joe of Warren, MN and his sons, Benjamin and Thomas, Pete (Dr. Mioki) of Rochester, MN, and their sons, Danny, Elliot and Nicky; sister, Helen Honek of Tabor, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
