David Lee McGlynn, 63

David Lee McGlynn, 63, of East Grand Forks, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home.

Dave was born on October 7, 1960 in Fosston, MN to Daniel and Donna (Reek) McGlynn. He grew up in Fisher and graduated from high school there in 1979. That summer he joined the IUOE Local 49 and began his 39-year career as a heavy equipment operator. While working many different jobs operating cranes, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, high lifts, and trucks. Dave was a business agent for IUOE Local 49 for 15 years. Dave also served on the Executive Board of the IUOE Local 49 Region 4 from 2000-2012. On February 21, 1986, Dave married Sheryl Scholler in Crookston, MN. They enjoyed spending time at Cass Lake for 30 years. In his spare time, Dave enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, hunting, and fishing. He was a prankster of the best kind.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years Sheryl McGlynn of East Grand Forks; step-children Travis Rasmussen of Reno, NV and Dereck (Becky) Rasmussen and their children Max and Ruby all of Grand Forks; siblings Mark (Tricia) McGlynn of Bozeman, MT, Kristi (Mike) Stoltman of Minto, ND, Kelly McGlynn (Larry Czapiewski) of Oslo, MN, and Jason (Sara) McGlynn of Boise, ID; mother-in-law Anna Einarson; sister-in-law Sandy (Mike) Sackett; nieces and nephews Tyler (Melissa) McGlynn, Trista (Tom) Leach, Justin Stoltman (Olivia Riopelle), Josh Stoltman, Cory (Mikki) Barclay, Garrett Barclay(Megan Kalka), Laura Barclay(Bailey Hermanson), and Briana (Thomas) Martens; great-nieces and nephews Alex Sophia and Grace McGlynn, Conner, Jack and Kate Leach, Kayson Beckett, and Sawyer Barclay, Ember and Braylee Martens, and Morgan and Ryder Kolbeck; aunts and uncles Agnes Reek, Sharon Melbo, Jim (Jean) Reek, and Louann McGlynn. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Donna McGlynn, sister Paula McGlynn, brother Kevin McGlynn and grandchildren Evelynn and Liam Rasmussen.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 2:00 PM, Friday, October 27, 2023 at Dahl Funeral Home, 2029 Central Ave. NW, East Grand Forks, MN 56721. Funeral will be live-streamed on Dave’s page at www.dandahlfuneralhome.com

VISITATION: One hour prior to the Memorial Service on Friday also at Dahl Funeral Home.

INURNMENT: Dave will be laid to rest at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mentor, MN privately at a later time.
