Riverside Christian and East Grand Forks shine at NW MN Conference championship

The Oak Knoll Country Club was abuzz with excitement as the best cross country teams in the region gathered for the NW Minnesota Conference Championship on October 12, 2023. Both Riverside Christian Rams and East Grand Forks Senior High Green Wave showcased their prowess, with Riverside Christian clinching the top spot in both the Boys and Girls Varsity categories. Riverside Christian's boys emerged as the champions, with East Grand Forks following closely in second place. The competition was fierce, with both teams having multiple runners finishing in the top spots. Hunter Jordheim of East Grand Forks led the charge for the Green Wave, finishing third with a time of 18:33.50. He was closely followed by Riverside's Josiah Sundby and Rylan Hanson, who finished fourth and fifth, respectively. East Grand Forks' Jaxon Mahar and Weston Mahar also had strong finishes, securing seventh and ninth places. Riverside Christian's depth was evident as they had five runners finishing in the top 15, with Elliot Arntson, Kyle Hamlin, and Isaac Sundby contributing to the team's success. Riverside Christian's girls continued the school's winning streak, securing the top spot. Ella Arntson of Riverside Christian was the star of the day, finishing first with a time of 21:39.80. She was complemented by teammates Norah Hanson, Jayla Abrahamson, Leah Sundby, and Megan Weiss, who all finished in the top 15. East Grand Forks' girls showcased their determination with Aryanna Aro, Katherine Allard, Audrey Floden, and Kendra Olson putting up commendable performances. The All-Conference Awards were a testament to the talent and hard work of the athletes. From East Grand Forks, Weston Mahar, Jackson Mahar, and Hunter Jordheim received the honors. Riverside Christian had multiple athletes recognized, reflecting their dominance in the championship. All -Conference from Riverside were: Megan Weiss, Norah Hanson, Ella Arntson, Leah Sundby, Josiah Sundby, Kyle Hamlin, Elliot Arntson, Rylan Hanson, and Isaac Sundby. In conclusion, the NW Minnesota Conference Championship was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and talent of the athletes from Riverside Christian and East Grand Forks.
