Christine E. Nelson, 89

Christine E. Nelson, 89, of West Fargo, formerly of East Grand Forks, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Fargo.

Christine Edith Czapiewski was born May 11, 1934 on the family farm in Walsh County, ND to Edward and Vernie (Zolandek) Czapiewski. She grew up and attended country school in rural Oslo, and went to Central High School in Grand Forks. She then attended nurses training and worked at Eddy’s Bakery also in Grand Forks. On June 14, 1954, she married Wallace Nelson at St. Michael’s in Grand Forks. Together they made their home in East Grand Forks and raised seven children.

Christine enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and bingo. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic church where she also worked in the kitchen and later joined Blessed Sacrament while living in West Fargo. She was also a member of the EGF American Legion Post #157 Ladies Auxiliary

She is survived by her children Sherry (Art) Anderson of West Fargo, Kathy (Wayne) Kendle of East Grand Forks, Jeff (Cheryl) Nelson of Edgewood, NM, Larry Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN, Lisa (Peter) Waller of Pelican Rapids, MN, Merri Kramer of West Fargo; sisters Jeannie (Wayne) Simoneau, Lewiston, ID, and Martie (Bruce) Hanson of Grand Forks; nine grandchildren 24 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Vernie Czapiewski, siblings, Grace, Don, Laverne, Connie, and son Robert.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 2:00 PM, Friday July 7, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church 524 5th Ave. N., Grand Forks, ND 58203.

VISITATION: One hour prior to the Mass at the Church.

INTERMENT: Calvary North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
